<< BackSaint Patrick’s Day Festivities Manchester’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day parade will be held Sunday, March 28, 2010, and alumnus Robert “Bob” Murphy ’53 is the 2010 Grand Marshall. A Manchester native, Bob was appointed to the position because of his consistent contribution to the betterment of Manchester and his involvement in the city’s Irish community.
A corned beef dinner, sponsored by Saint Raphael’s Parish, will be held in honor of Bob on Saturday March 6, 2010 at St. Benedict’s Academy Gymnasium, beginning at 5:30 p.m. (following 4 p.m. Mass). In preparation for the parade, The Saint Anselm Irish Club invites volunteers to help paint their float on Sunday, March 21, 2010, from 12-3 p.m. at Grappone Stadium. The parade’s theme is “Helping Hands Feeding the Hungry,” and participants are encouraged to donate non-perishable goods to local food pantries.
Alumni are also invited to walk with Saint Anselm students in the parade or simply enjoy the spectacle from the sidewalk. The procession begins at 12:00 p.m. on Elm St. and proceeds from Salmon to Auburn Street. If interested in joining the Irish Club’s float, meet at the Grappone Stadium seats at 10:00 a.m. clad in Saint Anselm apparel or anything green.
